Minutes of the

AMERICAN DRUG-FREE POWERLIFTING FEDERATION's

June 11, 2005 Meeting (The Purple Hotel; Chicago, IL.)

The formal start of the meeting was 12:30 p.m.

Introductions & Welcome:

The following MISSION STATEMENT was reviewed; an agreement was quickly reached that this would work; the ADFPF would follow the WDFPF lead and sanction Strongman & Highland Games events.  It was made clear that suggestions and revisions of the ADFPF Mission Statement were welcome.

ADFPF  Mission Statement:

To provide amateur athletes with legitimate drug tested powerlifting, Strongman/woman, Highland Games experiences (competitions, clinics & workshops) through local, regional and National championships, while encouraging the growth of international amateur drug-free competition.  To insure that the ADFPF as well as all ADFPF competitions are governed with integrity and by the highest standards of meet structure, officiating and organizational administration.

The Business meeting used the following format:

ORGANIZATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS:

   FINANCES:

BANK ACCOUNT:  The ADFPF has a Bank Account in place within the Structure of a Not-for Profit status.   The fact that we are a Not-for-Profit organization, allows us to accept donations and provide the donor with a form for Tax exempt status.

ADFPF payments have already been made for the following:

The ADFPF has paid their 2005-2006 WDFPF Registration dues ($100.00 for the nation plus $1.00 per registered national member).

Two drug tests have been completed (negative results); all bills paid ($75.00 per test for a total bill of $150.00).

Our meeting room for today has be paid for by a donation.

            Upcoming ADFPF bills:

INSURANCE:    Agreement was reached to start the ADFPF insurance in 2006 UNLESS the ADFPF has an opportunity to host an ADFPF or WDFPF event in 2005.  Some meets held in school facilities, may have insurance provided by paying for a "rider" for the specific day of the event.

One ADFPF Insurance Bid  was received but the cost was higher than anticipated so the recommendation was to check other insurance companies and to also talk with NSI / West Bend Mutual Insurance Company about options that may reduce the cost listed on their bid.

            MARKETING ideas:

The group was in agreement to initially focus on the UNEQUIPPED Division of competition.  (The only supportive equipment allowed in the UNEQUIPPED Division will be the lifting belt and wrist wraps.)  It was decided to place a monthly ADFPF informational advertisement into Powerlifting U.S.A. along with other powerlifting-related magazines.  Fliers were another potential to advertise upcoming ADFPF competitive schedules.

            OPERATING EXPENSES PROVIDED THROUGH:

#1:  The current ADFPF Registration Fees is $20.00 per member. It was agreed to stay with that amount as long as possible.

               #2:  Hosting competitions.

                        Recommendations included the following:

Hosting Local Events.  This was accepted.  Dennis Brady will try to host 4 to 6 ADFPF events in Illinois.  The Michigan meet organizers will try to host 4 to 6 ADFPF events in the State of Michigan.  An effort to host an ADFPF meet in the state of Indiana will be made.  ADFPF publicity notices will seek potential State Chairs and Meet Directors.

Place a bid to host the WDFPF PAN-AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS early in  2006.  Hosting this event was not considered an option at this time.

Host a 2006 ADFPF NATIONAL POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS for men & women.   This was supported.  Dennis Brady will host this event in APRIL, 2006.

Host a 2006 ADFPF MASTERS' NATIONAL POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS for men & women.  This was supported.  This event will be held in Lansing Michigan in MAY, 2006.

Host a 2006 ADFPF SINGLE EVENT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.  This was supported for the month of FEBRUARY.

               #3:  TAX Exempt Donations.

            ADFPF Logo:

Jeff Buchin had a Logo design presented during the meeting.  It was agreed that the ADFPF Logo will be used for our ADFPF advertisements with the potential of having a contest for ADFPF members to create an official Logo.

   ADFPF Rules and Policies:
